Anca Novacovici – Founder and President

Anca started Eco-Coach in early 2006 because of her passion for the environment and her interest in environmental sustainability. Anca is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional, a Huffington Post blogger, sustainability speaker and author. She sits on the Board of the Green Building Institute, and is an Adjunct Professor at Montgomery College.

Anca has over fifteen years’ experience in strategic planning, change management, business process redesign, benchmarking, training and communications. Nationwide, her clients range from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups, government organizations and non-profits in various sectors. Anca obtained her MBA in International Management from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management, and her BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.

Cindy Olson – Vice President, Marketing and Business Development

Cindy Olson educates clients and assists them in designing, implementing and documenting the optimal sustainable practices for their organization. From designing eco-communities and creating community gardens to financial planning on Wall Street, Cindy has a kaleidoscopic wealth of experience that connects with her breadth of knowledge and interests.

Cindy holds certificates in a variety of disciplines including: energy auditing, whole building design, sustainable agriculture, permaculture, holistic management, watershed management as well as entrepreneur training from the Kaufman Foundation, and has her Series 6 and 7. In addition, she advises climate action groups, such as 1Sky and CarbonfreeDC and has lectured and facilitated workshops for such diverse organizations as the FDA, NIH, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Mount Sinai Medical Center. Her degrees are from New York University and Drew University.

Aubrey McCormick - Engagement Director and Sustainability Consultant

Aubrey McCormick is our engagement director and sustainability consultant. She is a former professional golfer who is passionate about sustainability and was showcased as the 'Green Golfer’ on the Golf Channel. Her experience also include business development, media, environmental advocacy and fundraising.

During the course of her 13-year career in golf, McCormick competed nationally on the LPGA Symetra Tour, US Open qualifying schools, and the Sun Coast Tour. She served as an LPGA instructor and founded a nonprofit. Additional experience prior to joining the Eco-Coach team includes work with Green America as a Membership Coordinator and with PERIS construction as Director of Business Development. Aubrey is currently pursuing the LEED accreditation in new and existing buildings. She obtained her Bachelors of Science from Missouri State University.

Lynn Anne Miller - Partner, Sustainability Communications & CSR

Lynn Anne Miller is our partner in sustainability communications and the founder of 4GreenPs. 4GreenPs is an award - winning strategic marketing firm that connects green brands with mainstream consumers and builds sustainability communication programs for corporate leaders.

Prior to founding 4GreenPs in 2006, Lynn worked for more than 20 years with successful venture-backed start-ups and Fortune 500 firms, including Telegy Networks, Texas Instruments, American Mobile Satellite, Comsat, and CBS Inc. She developed one of the first corporate SEO strategies in 1997, and was an early social media adopter, winning the first Shorty Award for Best Green Content on Twitter and Nielsen Media Research’s recognition for her blog. She serves on the Board of the Independent PR Alliance, a section of the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She holds an MA from the University of Paris I/Sorbonne, and an MBA from Georgetown University. She is a recipient of the Lehigh University Alumni Award, the University’s most prestigious alumni honor for service to the university, community, and profession.

Nikki White - Senior Sustainability Consultant

Nikki assists government and corporate clients with achieving sustainability goals and maintaining environemtnal compliance. Her Primary areas of expertise are resource efficienty, EMS/ISO 14001, environmental financial liability, greenhouse has analysis, and environmental compliance management and auditing. Nikki graduated from Indiana Universty's School of Public and Environmental Affairs with a Bachelors in Public Affairs concentrating in Environmental Management. She then attended George Washingotn University and obtained a Masters in Engineering Management. Nikki holds a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Verifier Certification from CSA America INc. and an ISO 14001 Associate Auditor certification from RABQSA. This year Nikki is taking classes to become an Arlington Regional Master Naturalist. 

Natalie Avery – Sustainable Hospitality Consultant

Natalie Avery is an experienced sustainable hospitality consultant. She has worked with a range of restaurants, bars and nightclubs, helping them to better manage hot button issues around noise and trash, improve community relations, navigate government licensing and regulatory processes, grow their businesses in healthy, sustainable ways, and overall foster more responsible business practices.

She has served as co-chair of the Alcoholic Beverage Regulatory Administration (ABRA) Noise Task Force, directed the MidCity Business Association, and worked as a researcher and writer for such organizations as the Responsible Hospitality Institute, The Urban Institute, Living City Block and the Community Foundation of the National Capital Region. Natalie obtained her Masters Degree in International Relations from American University School of International Service and a Bachelors degree in Literature from American University.

Matt Cohen – Sustainability Consultant

Matt Cohen has helped clients in the nonprofit and higher education sectors measure and manage their greenhouse has emissions. Matt has also spent significant time in the nonprofit sector, working for organizations with sustainability-oriented missions. Matt is presently pursuing a PhD in Sustainability at Arizona State University where he studies sustainable urban development. His skills include greenhouse gas accounting, visioning, program evaluation, strategic planning, grant writing and stakeholder engagement. Matt holds a Master of Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati and a M.S. in Climate Science and Solutions from Northern Arizona University.

Dan Triman – Sustainability Consultant

Dan Triman is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), and a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor (CSBA). Dan has been the project manager for several LEED projects in the LEED NC, LEED EB, and LEED ND rating systems. He also has extensive experience with the LEED CI and LEED CS rating systems. He has been involved LEED process management support, review of LEED documentation, and construction phase support.

Clients of note include the Smithsonian Institute and GSA. He had been the Sustainability Coordinator/Manager at several engineering/architecture firms. Dan also has experience with natural building techniques, green roof installation and maintenance, solar panel installations, carpentry, materials testing, engineering design, and project management. He has co-authored several books including Green Career Guides in Portland, Oregon and Washington, D.C. Dan has a B.S. in Civil Engineering.

Caryn Sykes – Sustainability Consultant

Caryn Sykes has been an advocate of sustainable business for over 15 years. She is the founder and principal of Whole Hearth, a business that helped home owners make their living spaces healthier, more energy efficient and more environmentally sustainable. She is also one of the founders of the DC Net Impact Professional Chapter.

Caryn has worked as a market analyst for the environmental industry for Frost & Sullivan, and has over 10 years of experience in accounting and business planning services and consulting for businesses and nonprofits, including banking, entertainment, technology, real estate, environmental, health care, human services, legal, and government contracting organizations. Caryn obtained her MBA/MIM from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a BA from the University of Arizona.

Olya Surits – Marketing and Social Media Associate

Olya Surits's passion for sustainability began early on, having been raised in Portland, Oregon. She joined Eco-Coach as a PR Intern, and eventually became our Twitter manager where she shares her findings on sustainable business news and green living.

Olya served as the VP of Marketing for the University of Oregon’s undergraduate Net Impact chapter, and interned at Institutional Stove Solutions, which makes ecofriendly stoves for third-world countries. In addition, through a university campaign, she assessed off-campus housing for energy and water efficiency and was able to support students in lowering their water and energy bills and carbon footprint. Olya loves to write vivid poetry, photograph her world, improvise her way through piano, and is currently pursuing a yoga-teacher certification. Olya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Humanities from the University of Oregon.
